What is שאלהט”ב ?

שאלהט”ב is a database of answers (questions and answers) that invites religious LGBT people to send personal, complex, intimate, and important halachic and religious questions – and receive answers from the best halachic experts with whom we work, including rabbis, rabbis and religious LGBT people with a halachic background.

We believe that no one deserves to be left alone with their question.

Why is this important?

The LGBT religious world is full of unique issues that many do not dare to ask openly.
Whether it is related to family life, prayer, blessings, observance of mitzvot, or issues of identity –
we deserve a safe, attentive, and empathetic space to ask, learn, understand, and feel a sense of belonging.

Who answers?

The שאלהט”ב team includes Orthodox halakhic men and women from all ends of the religious spectrum:

• Rabbis and rabbis who are intimately familiar with the world of religious LGBT people
• Religious LGBTQ people with extensive halakhic knowledge and halakhic traditions

Each question is examined sensitively, while maintaining anonymity, and out of respect and love for tradition.

What will we build together ?

At the end of the first year, we will compile all the questions and answers that are selected and create a first-of-its-kind halakhic-community knowledge database, which will be a ray of light and a source of inspiration for masses of religious LGBT people, teachers, educators, counselors, and community members.
